Parent: the workspace and keeping track of lessons

The parent workspace: children's lessons, the log, homework, messages and payment.

Who this is for. A parent who pays for a child's lessons and wants to see what is going on: which lessons happened, what was assigned and what it costs.

How to get a workspace and an account for your child

There is no separate registration for parents. Everything starts with a link the tutor sends.

Step by step:

  1. Open the link. You will see the heading "Invitation from a tutor".
  2. Pick the parent option: you will follow the lessons and the payments.
  3. Sign in any way you like: with Google, with Telegram or by phone number. Tick the consent checkbox, otherwise the sign-in buttons will not work.
  4. A "Student details" block appears. Fill in the child's first name, last name and phone. Class and school are optional.
  5. Press "Accept invitation".
  6. A "Done!" screen appears saying the child now studies with that tutor and that lessons and payments can be followed in the workspace. Press the button that opens it.

What just happened: your child now has a card on the platform, you are attached to it as parent and payer, and the tutor received a notification that the invitation was accepted.

About the child's phone. This is an important field, not a formality. That number is what later connects the child's card to their own sign-in, if they want a workspace of their own. Use a real number.

The child does not get their own sign-in from this. The workspace is yours. If the child should see their lessons and assignments themselves, ask the tutor to send them a separate invitation.

If you signed in with the wrong role (as a tutor, for example), you will see that only a parent or a student can accept the invitation, with buttons to switch role or sign out.

If the link does not open and says the invitation was not found, it has expired (a link lives 7 days) or has already been used. Ask the tutor for a new one.

If the platform already knows the child's number

Three outcomes are possible, and none of them creates a duplicate.

  • The number is new. A card for the child is created from the name you entered.
  • The number already belongs to a card the tutor created by hand. That card becomes "yours": you are attached to it, and the whole history of lessons and assignments stays where it is.
  • The number belongs to a full account of the child. No new account is created; a link with you and with this tutor is simply added to the existing one.

So if the child already studied and has their own sign-in, your invitation breaks nothing.

A second child and a second tutor

One workspace holds any number of children and tutors. Every new "child and tutor" pair is added the same way: the tutor sends a link, you accept it.

To add a second child, accept an invitation again and enter the second child's details. To add a second tutor for the same child, accept their invitation and enter the same child with the same number.

A link is always a pair: a tutor and a child. One tutor never sees the child's lessons with another tutor.

What is in the workspace

At the bottom of the screen on a phone, or in the header on a computer, there are four sections:

  • "Home" is homework, lessons, progress and the money summary;
  • "Messages" is conversations with tutors and notifications;
  • "Finance" is balances and payment details;
  • "Profile" is your details, the list of tutors, notifications and settings.

There is no material library section for you: materials live inside lessons.

Filtering by child

If you have one child, there are no filters: there is nothing to switch.

If you have two or more, the lessons block gets a row of buttons: "All children" and one per child. The chosen child filters lessons, homework and the hint about remaining lessons.

The same filters exist in "Finance": by child and by tutor, and they appear only if there is more than one.

Lessons: day by day and all completed

The block is called "Lessons". It has two modes.

By day (the usual one). A week strip at the top, which can be scrolled. Press a day and you see the lessons of that day. Next to the heading it says how many lessons there are, and if you moved to another day, a "→ Today" button appears.

A lesson card holds the time, the duration, the subject, a line like "(child's name) · tutor (name)" and the state of the lesson.

If there are no lessons: the block says the child's tutor will schedule one and it will appear here.

All completed. The "All completed" button switches the block to a list of past lessons, with no split by day. That is the log.

Every entry holds:

  • the state of the lesson;
  • a note that attendance was marked, and by whom: by the child, or by the tutor (the child was in the lesson but did not press the button);
  • an "Actually: (from) to (to)" line, if the tutor started and finished the lesson with the buttons. If the actual time came out implausibly long, the line is not shown;
  • the lesson topic and the homework text, if the tutor filled them in. If not, it says the lesson details are not filled in.

If there are no completed lessons yet, the block says reports will appear after the first ones.

Lesson states in plain words: scheduled, in progress, finished, cancelled, late cancellation (cancelled too close to the start, paid for as held) and no-show (the child did not come, paid the same way).

If the tutor decides not to take money for a late cancellation or a no-show, a green note appears next to the status saying the charge was returned and nothing is owed. It is visible both in the day card and in the log of completed lessons. The status itself does not change, and the lesson leaves the "Due, all time" line.

Cancelling a lesson

A scheduled lesson card has a "Cancel lesson" button. Past and cancelled ones do not have it.

The confirmation dialog looks different depending on how much time is left.

In advance. A heading asking whether to cancel, and a note that the lesson will not be charged.

Late. A warning that there are fewer than, say, 24 hours left, a heading asking whether to cancel and be charged, and the text explaining that cancelling now charges the lesson as held, with the amount, and that the tutor can return the charge if you write to them. The buttons are "Keep the lesson" and "Cancel anyway".

Every tutor sets their own window, from 2 to 48 hours, most often a day.

A grace period. If the tutor scheduled the lesson very recently and already inside that window, for the first two hours after it was created a cancellation counts as ordinary, with no charge. That protects against the case where a lesson was set for tomorrow while the tutor's window is a day.

Only the tutor can return a charge; you have no such button. That is why the dialog says it is worth writing to them.

Homework

The first block of "Home" is called "Homework". If you have several children, the list follows the chosen filter.

A card holds the subject, the lesson date, the text and a due line. An overdue assignment is highlighted and gets an "overdue" mark.

You can mark an assignment as done for your child: there is a button for it and another one to remove the mark. Once the tutor has reviewed the work, both disappear.

Files can be attached too: an "Attach file" button, up to five files, each up to 25 megabytes. After a review the files are locked.

The materials of the lesson itself. The lesson card has a "Materials" button: it opens the handouts, files and links the tutor attached to that lesson. They can be opened and downloaded. Pressing again closes the block.

You cannot attach your own file there: you have no upload button. Lesson materials are the business of the tutor and the child. Your files go to the homework, which is enough for the usual case of photographing a notebook.

Reviewed assignments are hidden and can be revealed with a "Show reviewed" link. The tutor's feedback is labelled as their comment.

Progress

At the bottom of "Home" there is a "Progress" block: per subject, the number of finished lessons and the topics the tutor recorded.

If there are no finished lessons, it says progress will appear after the first ones. If there are, but no topics were filled in, it says the topics are not filled in yet.

Money

Payments through the platform are not live yet: you pay the tutor directly, as agreed. The workspace keeps the books.

The "Balance" card in "Home", next to the lessons:

  • "Paid in 30 days" with the number of lessons. While payment goes directly, these are the lessons the tutor marked as paid;
  • "Due, all time", if there are lessons that were never settled. The label is deliberate: the line above counts the last 30 days, while the debt is collected over all time. There is no pay button next to it: you pay the tutor directly. If there is no debt, the line is not shown at all;
  • the "More in Finance →" link.

The lines share one window: the last 30 days.

The "Finance" section. At the top there is a summary by links: one card per "child and tutor" pair, with the balance and the remaining lessons. If two of your children study with the same tutor, a note under the card says the balance is shared between both children.

If there are no links: the section says so and suggests asking the tutor for an invitation link.

Below there is the payment detail: filters by child, by tutor and by type, and under them a list of operations grouped by month. While money goes past the platform, the list is empty.

A line saying the platform does not know the lesson price yet, instead of the number of remaining lessons, means exactly that: the platform does not know the price for this pair because there has not been a single lesson with a price. As soon as there is one, the remainder is calculated.

The monthly report

Once a month you get a notification with a heading like "Report for (month)". It arrives where everything else does: the bell in the workspace, Telegram (if you signed in through it) and push, if you turned it on.

The report has one line per "child and tutor" pair for the past month: how many lessons happened and for how much, how much was paid and how much is left. If a pair has an active package, a line about the lessons left in it is added.

If there were no lessons in the month, the report says exactly that: there was no activity.

The report only covers the pairs where you are the payer.

Messaging the tutor

The "Messages" section. Notifications are there too, and the section icon carries a counter of unread items.

The list of tutors is in "Profile", in the "My tutors" block: the tutor's name, the child's name, a "Message" button and, once there have been lessons, a review form.

You can write first. Press "Message" in the tutor's card: the workspace opens "Messages" and creates the conversation if there was none. There is no need to wait for the tutor's first message.

The tutor writes to you and to the child separately: for them these are two different buttons. A parent's conversation and a child's conversation never mix, and the child does not see yours.

You can leave a review for a tutor once there has been at least one finished lesson.

Your profile

The "Profile" section. At the top, your personal card: photo, name, phone, email and a "Log out" button.

Name, photo and email cannot be changed here; the card has no edit button.

Below:

  • "My tutors" with the link and the message buttons;
  • "Notifications": push, quiet hours, the evening digest (in detail in "Basics");
  • "App on your phone";
  • Settings: sign-in methods and account deletion.
