Student: how to use your workspace

The student workspace: schedule, attendance, homework, messages and finances.

Who this is for. A student who studies on their own and arranges things with the tutor directly. If a parent pays for the lessons, they have their own chapter, but everything else here is true for you as well.

How to get into the workspace

You cannot sign up as a student on your own. You enter through a link sent by a tutor.

Step by step:

  1. Open the link from the tutor's message. You will see the heading "Invitation from a tutor".
  2. Pick who you are. The student option says you study on your own and pay for the lessons yourself. If a parent is going to pay, it is better to pass the link on to them: the other option is for a parent who will follow the lessons and the payments.
  3. Sign in any way you like: with Google, with Telegram or by phone number. Tick the consent checkbox, otherwise the sign-in buttons do nothing.
  4. Under the button there is a note that you are accepting as a student and will pay for lessons yourself. Press "Accept invitation".
  5. A "Done!" screen appears saying you now study with that tutor. Press the button that opens the workspace.

There is no form to fill in: your name comes from your account.

If the tutor already added you by hand. It happens: lessons are running but you have no workspace yet. The tutor then sends a personal link, and once you accept it, the whole past history (lessons, homework, payments) is in your workspace straight away. Nothing is lost and no duplicate appears.

The most common cases and what to do.

"Invitation not found", possibly expired or already used. A link lives 7 days and works once. Ask the tutor for a new one; it is a single press on their side.

Separately: if you already accepted this invitation and opened the link again, you see a "Done!" screen. That is normal, it means everything already worked; just open the workspace.

"Only a parent or a student can accept the invitation. You signed in with another role." That happens if you signed in as a tutor. The screen has buttons to switch role or sign out and back in.

The code does not arrive. If you sign in by phone, you cannot request a new code immediately: the "Send code again" button shows how many seconds are left. If you sign in with Telegram and got the code wrong several times, press the button that shares your number in the bot again and it will send a new code.

There is no phone field at all. That means SMS sign-in is currently switched off. Sign in with Google or Telegram.

What is in the workspace

At the bottom of the screen on a phone (or in the header on a computer) there are four sections:

  • "Home" is homework, the schedule, progress and a short money summary;
  • "Messages" is your conversations with tutors and notifications;
  • "Finance" is the balance and history;
  • "Profile" is your details, your tutors, notifications and settings.

There is no material library section for you: materials live inside each lesson.

Homework

The first block of "Home" is called "Homework". It lists assignments from all of your tutors.

Each card holds the subject, the lesson date, the text of the assignment and a due line. Once the deadline has passed, the line turns red and an "overdue" mark appears. An overdue assignment does not disappear and can still be submitted: the system closes nothing by itself.

There are three states: assigned, done and reviewed.

How to mark it as done. The "Mark as done" button. Changed your mind? There is a button to remove the mark. Both disappear as soon as the tutor has reviewed the work: after a review the mark can no longer be changed.

How to attach a file. The assignment card has a files block with an "Attach file" button and a counter like "2 of 5".

  • up to five files can be attached;
  • one file up to 25 megabytes;
  • photos (JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF), PDF, plain text, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations and ZIP archives all work;
  • you can only delete your own file, and only while the assignment has not been reviewed;
  • uploading a file does not mark the assignment as done. That is a separate button, and it is more convenient this way: you can attach a draft and mark it later.

After a review the files are locked, and the block explains that the assignment was reviewed and the files cannot be changed.

After the review. The assignment becomes "Reviewed" and hides from the main list. To see reviewed ones, press "Show reviewed"; they sit under their own heading. If the tutor left feedback, it is labelled as the tutor's comment.

If the tutor edits an already reviewed assignment, it goes back to "assigned", your mark and the comment are cleared, and a notification arrives. It means the text changed and the work has to be redone.

If there are no assignments, the list says that there is no homework yet and the tutor will set it after a lesson.

Schedule and lessons

The "My schedule" block. At the top there is a strip of weekdays you can scroll. Press a day and the lessons of that day appear below, with a heading like "Today, (date)" and the number of lessons.

If you moved to another day, a "→ Today" button appears to bring you back.

A lesson card holds the time, the duration, the subject, the tutor's name and the date. The state of the lesson is on the right.

The states in plain words:

  • Scheduled, the lesson is still ahead;
  • In progress, the tutor has started it;
  • Finished, the lesson has happened;
  • Cancelled, the lesson was called off and you owe nothing for it;
  • Late cancellation, you cancelled too late, so the lesson counts as held and is paid for;
  • No-show, the tutor marked that you did not come. It is paid for like a lesson held.

If the tutor decides not to take money for a late cancellation or a no-show, a green note appears next to the status saying the charge was returned and nothing is owed. The status itself does not change: it stays the truth about what happened. Such a lesson also drops out of the "Due, all time" line.

If there are no lessons: the block says the tutor will invite you and schedule a lesson, and it will appear here.

You cannot schedule lessons for yourself; the tutor does that.

The "I am in the lesson" mark

The lesson card gets an "I am in the lesson" button. Press it when you arrive.

When the button is visible:

  • the window opens 15 minutes before the lesson and closes at midnight, but never sooner than six hours after the lesson ends. For a daytime lesson that is the rest of the day; for a late evening one, part of the night as well: a lesson that ended at midnight can be marked until six in the morning. So you can mark it in advance and after the tutor has finished;
  • while you have not marked it yet. After pressing, "Attendance confirmed" takes the place of the button;
  • cancelled lessons and no-shows have no button.

The mark affects nothing in money. The tutor needs it to see that you were there: until you mark it, a waiting note sits next to the lesson on their side.

If you forget to mark it, nothing bad happens. The tutor can still finish the lesson.

The tutor can mark it for you. They have their own button in the same window, and they press it when you were in the lesson but forgot to mark it.

Who marked it is always visible:

  • if you did it yourself, it says "Attendance confirmed";
  • if the tutor did, it says the tutor marked attendance.

That is neither a complaint nor a minus: the note exists precisely so that "confirmed it myself" and "was marked for me" do not look the same. Neither affects payment.

The video lesson

If the tutor connected their Google Calendar, a green "Join Google Meet" button appears in the lesson card. It opens the meeting in a new tab. The button is visible in advance, not only on the day of the lesson, so the link can be opened and checked ahead of time.

When there is no button:

  • the tutor never connected Google Calendar. Then there will never be one, and you will call in whatever way you agreed separately;
  • the lesson was just created and has not reached the calendar yet. The link appears within about a quarter of an hour. The tutor can create it straight away if you ask;
  • the lesson is already finished or cancelled.

Neither you nor the tutor can type a custom link into a lesson.

Lesson materials

The lesson card has a "Materials" button. It opens a block with the files and links the tutor attached. Pressing again closes it.

You can attach a file too. Under the list there is an "Upload file" button: a photo of your notebook, notes, a document. It appears in the same block on the tutor's side.

Files only: you have no "Add link" or "Attach from media" buttons, those belong to tutors. The limits are the same as for homework files: one file up to 25 megabytes, documents and images accepted.

You can only remove what you added yourself. The tutor's materials have no delete button for you.

A YouTube link unfolds into a player right in the card, so there is nothing to open separately.

Cancelling a lesson

A scheduled lesson card has a "Cancel lesson" button. Past, running and cancelled lessons do not have it.

Pressing it opens a dialog, and it can look two ways.

An ordinary cancellation. The heading asks whether to cancel, and a line says the lesson will not be charged because there are still more than so many hours left. You press the cancel button and that is it.

A late cancellation. At the top there is a warning that there are fewer than, say, 24 hours until the lesson, a heading asking whether to cancel and be charged, and an explanation that cancelling now charges the lesson as held, with the amount, and that the tutor can return the charge if you write to them. The buttons are "Keep the lesson" and "Cancel anyway".

How many hours count as "late" is set by each tutor, from 2 to 48 hours. Usually it is a day.

An important grace period. If the tutor scheduled the lesson very recently and already inside that window (for example, set it for tomorrow while their window is a day), you have two hours from the moment the lesson was created to cancel it as an ordinary one, with no charge. That exists so you do not pay for a lesson you learned about a minute ago.

You cannot return a charge yourself: that button belongs to the tutor. That is why the cancellation dialog says it is worth writing to them.

Progress

At the bottom of "Home" there is a "Progress" block. For every subject it shows the number of finished lessons and the list of topics the tutor recorded for the lessons (the most recent ones).

If there are no finished lessons yet, it says progress will appear after the first ones. If there are lessons but the tutor did not fill in topics, it says the topics are not filled in yet.

Messaging the tutor

The "Messages" section. Notifications live there too, and the section icon shows a counter of unread items.

There are two more ways to write to a tutor: the "Message" button in their card in "Profile", and, if they gave a phone number, a call button next to it.

The list of your tutors is in "Profile", in the "My tutors" block. If a tutor archives you, they move to the "Studied earlier" block: there will be no new lessons, while messages, lesson history and the ability to leave a review stay. What the archive is, is explained in "Basics".

You can only review a tutor you have at least one finished lesson with. More about reviews in the chapter on chat, media and reviews.

What you see about money

Payments through the platform are not live yet, so you pay the tutor directly, as agreed. The workspace only counts.

The "Balance" card in "Home", next to the schedule. It holds:

  • "Paid in 30 days". While payment goes directly, this is the sum of lessons the tutor marked as paid by you. So it is their mark, not a payment you made on the site;
  • "Due, all time" with the number of lessons. It appears only if there are lessons that were never settled. The words "all time" are deliberate: the line above counts the last 30 days, while the debt is collected over the whole time you studied. There is no pay button next to it: you pay the tutor directly;
  • the "More in Finance →" link.

If there is no debt, that line is not shown at all.

The "Finance" section. A "Finances" heading, a period switch for week, month and year, a lesson balance, what came in and what was charged during the period, and a "By tutor" block.

While payments on the platform do not work, all those amounts are zero, and you see the explanation that payments are not live yet and that you should pay the tutor directly, as agreed. There is no top-up button.

If a parent pays for you, the section says so separately: there is nothing for you to top up, and the amounts are shown for information.

If you have not accepted a single invitation yet, the section is empty and says that payments will appear here once you accept a tutor's invitation.

Your profile

The "Profile" section. At the top is your personal card: photo, name, phone, email and a "Log out" button at the bottom.

Name, photo and email cannot be changed in that card; it has no edit button. If the details are wrong, write to your tutor or to support.

Then, in order:

  • "Parent", if you have one: name and phone;
  • "My tutors" with message and call buttons;
  • "Notifications": push on your phone, quiet hours, the evening digest. In detail in "Basics";
  • "App on your phone": how to install the workspace as an icon on your home screen;
  • Settings: your sign-in methods and account deletion.
